Neil Neimark, M.D.
Dr. Neimark is a board certified family physician, attended the Ohio State University College of Medicine where he graduated with honors in 1981 and was elected into the scholastic medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha.
While completing his internship, Dr. Neimark became disenchanted with traditional medicine’s focus on disease and cure, rather than health and healing. He realized that even with the best of medical care and technology, patients were unable to break out of the cycle of recurring illness. Frustrated with his inability to help patients stay healthy, he began searching out the scientific basis for achieving optimal health and preventing disease.
In 1984, he attended courses at the Mind/Body Clinic of New England Deaconess Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where he met Herbert Benson, M.D. and Joan Borysenko, Ph.D., pioneers in the field of mind/body health and psychoneuroimmunology. This event redirected his life. With this newfound focus, he finished his residency and went on to complete a fellowship in academic medicine, focusing on the mind/body connection.
Dr. Neimark now serves as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Family Practice, University of California, Irvine. He is in private practice in Irvine (mdpersonal.com), where he successfully applies the principles of mind/body medicine to help his patients overcome illness and work towards optimal health and greater physical and emotional well-being.

Inna Merenzon, M.D.
Dr. Merenzon is a certified Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist. Her psychiatric clinic, opened in 2000, offers a personalized, science-based approach. Applying the most advanced Functional and Genomic testing to determine each patient’s individual needs and treatment for optimal well-being and general health.
Her philosophy asserts that no patient is the average index of medical statistics, but rather, each is unique in terms of genomics, biochemistry, environmental risk factors, and lifestyle. Therefore, a highly personal, integrative approach is needed, which combines diverse diagnostic tests (both functional and genetic), personalized medicine and awareness-based cognitive psychotherapy for successful treatment and prevention of every physical and mental disease.
Dr. Merenzon graduated from Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy (Russia) and completed her postgraduate training in Israel in the field of mental health. Her postgraduate training and education includes dynamic psychotherapy certification, courses in cognitive behavioral techniques for therapy of PTSD, forensic psychiatry, Natural Health Counselor certification (CNHC), and Functional Medicine Practitioner certification. Additionally, completed the International Course for Yoga Instructors
Dr. Merenzon was Medical Director for a psychiatric hostel network and a private international rehabilitation center, a Senior Consultant for National Healthcare Services, and for over ten years a senior psychiatrist and psychiatric consultant in public and private hospitals. She is a long-time recognized expert witness in her field for the Courts.
Over the years, Dr. Merenzon became disillusioned by the lack of motivation demonstrated by conventional medicine, particularly psychiatry, to identify the cause of disease and to prevent chronic illness. Her own personal health issue provided first-hand experience of the problem, as well as the incentive to search for a better therapeutic approach that offers optimal treatment for patients’ requirements today. Fortunately, she discovered and adopted the Functional Medicine approach, which has provided the answer for her professional needs.
Today, Dr. Merenzon’s practice focuses mainly on the integrative psychiatric treatment of common mental disorders along with ADHD, ASD, morbid obesity, and others. Speaks three languages, is a raw–food vegan. Lives and promotes a healthy lifestyle.
Dr. Ana Baroni studied and graduated simultaneously in Medicine and Journalism in La Laguna University (Tenerife-Spain) in 1999. Then she completed a 2 year University course in Family Medicine in Buenos Aires University (Argentina). Back in Spain she completed a 4 year residency at Miguel Hernández University (Alicante-Spain) in Occupational Medicine. She received her Doctorate of Medicine in 2012 (Molecular Diagnosis in Oncology).
She has always been interested in cellular metabolism, and health improvement through proper nutrition, and her vision for health and healing resulted in the research of tools to address the underlying cause of illness rather than just treating the symptoms. As a result she studied functional medical protocols at the Academy of Functional Medicine and Genomics. Learning from Dr. Charles Gant was a turning point experience in her vision of the need for functional and genomics testing to determine the unique needs of each patient, and practice “personalized medicine”, now known as “Precision Medicine”. She is grateful to Dr. Gant due to the change of paradigm she made in her medical practice.
Since then she is committed to help patients with chronic and complex diseases to “live with the best possible quality of life”. Her passion for identifying the cause of disease directed her towards nutrigenomics. Shalesh Kaushal, M.D., PhD
Dr. Shalesh Kaushal obtained his BS degree at Yale University in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. Subsequently, he completed his MD at Johns Hopkins and PhD at MIT with the Nobel Laureate Dr. Har Gobind Khorana. Then he completed his residency at the Doheny Eye Institute/USC Department of Ophthalmology and his surgical retina fellowship at the Washington University St. Louis/Barnes Retina Institute. He also spent an additional year at Moorfields Eye Institute and at the Institute of Ophthalmology in London.
While at the University of Florida, he was the Richardson II Chair and head of the retina division. Dr. Kaushal established the clinical and surgical retina division, recruited physicians, trained residents, surgical fellows as well as mentored undergraduates, medical students, graduate students, post-docs in his research lab. Further, he organized an annual retina symposium and that attracted many key leaders both in the US and internationally. During that time, he established and became the Director of the Charlie Mack Overstreet Laboratory for Retinal Therapies. He was recruited to the University of Massachusetts in 2009 as the chairman built a brand new Eye Center and the first new academic department of ophthalmology in the United States in over 25 years. Besides these academic pursuits, he is the founder of three biotech companies and has been a consultant for most of the leading ophthalmic pharmaceutical companies.
The thrust of Dr. Kaushal’s basic research is to understand the cellular, molecular and biochemical events that cause retinal and macular degeneration. Collectively, the major research projects in his lab couple biochemical, small molecule and genetic approaches to understanding these important retinal diseases. Some of this work has led to novel, physician initiated clinical trials.
More recently, his research has steered to the identification of certain nutraceuticals to mitigate common retinal diseases like macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. This has led him to further understand the direct role of nutritional biochemistry in controlling the structure and function of the retina.
Dr. Kaushal is a member of the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the Macula Society, American Ophthalmological Society (AOS), Retina Society, the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS), and Fellow of the American College of Nutrition (ACN).
